IP Colloquium: Peter Yu (Texas A&M)

September 19 @ 1:15 pm - 3:15 pm

On September 19, we will host Peter Yu (Texas A&M). Professor Yu’s talk is titled “TRIPS and its Contents”.

Written in 2005 to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the WTO TRIPS Agreement, TRIPS and Its Discontents explored why developing countries had been dissatisfied with the TRIPS-based international intellectual property system. It further discussed what these countries could do to preserve the goals and intentions behind the TRIPS negotiations. In commemoration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the TRIPS Agreement, this forthcoming article revisits that discussion and explores why some developing countries have now become content with the TRIPS-based international intellectual property system. It further identifies the various lessons we can draw from the changing global intellectual property and technology landscapes.

The 2019 IP Colloquium is hosted by Professor Marshall Leaffer. This year’s theme is entitled Issues in International Intellectual Property Law. Two hours of Indiana CLE credit pending.
