Kassandra M. Officer
Kassandra M. Officer (’14) is an associate with the firm of Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP in Washington, D.C. Her practice focuses on complex patent litigation before U.S. district courts in the chemical and pharmaceutical fields. Kassi’s litigation experience covers numerous aspects of trial preparation, including conducting offensive and defensive discovery and handling day-to-day litigation activities.
After earning a B.S. in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering magna cum laude from Ohio State University, Kassi went on to graduate from the IU Maurer School of Law cum laude.
During her time in the IP program at Maurer, Kassi aided in developing the IP Clinic under the direction of Professor Norm Hedges, providing patent due diligence and patent drafting services for several clients. Another notable achievement during her time in law school was winning second place at the Midwestern Regional of the AIPLA’s Giles Sutherland Rich Memorial Moot Court Competition.
Kassi remembers her time working as a research assistant for Professor Janis as among her most valuable experiences during law school: “I learned so much from Professor Janis. I really enjoyed researching issues and discussing that research with him; those discussions were fundamental to my development and taught me how to think.”
