Tearra Vaughn

Tearra J. Vaughn (’13) is an associate with the firm of Foley & Lardner LLP in Chicago. Her practice concentrates on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications (domestic and foreign), patent portfolio analysis, and counseling and review of intellectual property agreements in the computer, electronic, and electromechanical arts.  Prior to working at Foley, Vaughn was with Alston & Bird in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Tearra received her J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington, Indiana, where she was a Research Assistant for the Lawyers in International Practice project and a member of the Intellectual Property Association and Faculty Appointments Committee.  Says Vaughn, “While in law school at Indiana Law I enjoyed engaging in discussions about complex legal issues and the nuances of the law.” Tearra was also active in the Center’s collaboration with Purdue University’s Women in Engineering Program taking part in a program aimed at undergraduate students in West Lafayette.

Vaughn received her B.E. in Computer Engineering, from Vanderbilt University, with a secondary study in Management of Technology.
